In the busy, fast-paced lifestyles we tend to live, we often find our minds filling up with all kinds of info, 'to-do's' and 'to-remembers.'
If we don't take the time to quieten and de-clutter our minds, we push ourselves into overdrive, which can lead to burnout, anxiety and other mental health issues.

A clear mind = optimal engagement and functioning.
TIPS TO HELP DE-CLUTTER THE MIND
1. Set Priorities

List your top priorities and create an action plan.
By doing this we ensure our actions reflect our priorities in life, allowing us to stay focused on the important things in our lives.
2. Writing/Journaling

Helps you to analyse and organise your thoughts.
Expressive writing has been shown to help eliminate intrusive thoughts about negative events as well as improve working memory.
Helps manage anxiety and depression through being a healthy means of emotional expression.
3. Avoid Multi-tasking
The human brain is actually incapable of multitasking, we are more than likely switching our attention and focus on and off as we move between tasks.
Trying to perform more than one task simultaneously thus limits both our focus and quality.
Perform only one task at a time to reduce the risk of errors and thus ensuring optimal and equal quality for all engagement.
4. Deep Breathing

Deep breathing lowers your heart rate and blood pressure, helping you to relax instantly.
Deep breathing also promotes concentration and helps strengthen your immune system.
5. De-clutter Your Environment

When we declutter our living and working space, we create an instant sense of relief for ourselves. An uncluttered space ensures you have limited distractions for optimal focus and engagement in a task.
Conclusion
It is inevitable that our minds will become clouded and cluttered at various points in our lives. It is important to remember that there are ways to help control this, to help you to relax and re-gain focus on the most important things in your life.
Keep your most important priorities in sight so as to ensure you are always moving on the right track. Write and journal your thoughts so as to organise them and free up some more mental space. Focus on only one task at a time, remember to breathe deeply and keep your living environment clear and tidy.
Now go forth and conquer!
